I apparently didn’t slow down enough as I went through a town on a backroads drive early this morning, and got pulled over for the first time in many years. I’m probably starting to go faster than I used to, as I get more accustomed to the S2000.
The officer was very businesslike, no nonsense but no attitude either. I don’t think he clocked me, but he did light me up with radar after I pulled over. Best I can figure, he wanted to see if that thing on my windshield was a radar detector.
Looking over the dashcam footage, I can’t see where he picked me up, so I’m not sure what I was doing at that moment. He did voice a suspicion that I was trying to get away from him. Happy to say I’m not that dumb; I noticed someone gaining on me, and started to slow down, pulling over immediately once he flipped on his lights.
Thankfully he let me go with a warning, specifically mentioning the deleterious effects of deer on vehicles traveling at high speed. Fitting, since I had passed a deer in the road two minutes prior:
Four-legged white-tailed demon
I was happy to have the reality check, especially as it came with no harsh consequences. I’m going to have to change my driving habits.

I got one subtle warning after I bought my WRX. No lights, just a trooper zooming up beside me, then giving me that look. I think he didn’t catch me on radar.
A couple of weeks later, he did get me. At the same spot. Fifteen over. Whoops.

Sounds like you handled it very well. Props to you good sir!
(Allegedly) Last time I was lit up I snuck away. I was doing about 70-90MPH in a Boostang on a Mulholland passing a Lincoln Continental (doing 60MPH) wrapped in camo. An LAPD copter rose up over the crest and the spotlight hit us. I slowed down and took a side road and looped away. Several miles later I arrived further north on Mullholland to see the Continental pulled over with two LAPD squad cars.

I got pulled over yesterday for doing 31 in a 25. I think he thought I was some one else. There is a punk ass kid in my town that drive a black 93 Accord. To some one who doesn’t know better I could see my car looking the same.
He apologized for the inconvenience and let me go as soon as my registration came though. Thankfully he didn’t notice that I don’t have a front plate.

Surely the LAPD doesn’t use helicopters to do traffic enforcement, that would be a massive waste of money.

Nice! I got a warning on my first one in the Audi too. Always pays to be respectful.

The spotlight was definitely on us (we were the only couple cars on the road and caught up to one other shortly after). It’s a 30MPH zone so allegedly what were doing goes under the stunt driving law.

A friend of mine was pulled over for speeding, but wasn’t speeding. I believe him. He drives like a septuagenarian.
Right after he pulled over, another car passed by which matched his - same make, same model, same color, same year. Turns out that he was spotted by plane and the cop on the ground pulled over the wrong car.
In another incident, my uncle was pulled over and held at gunpoint four times in one trip in four different counties. His car matched the description of one used in a bank robbery that morning.

What is this “stunt driving” law? Remy Julienne called, he wants his term back :P

Oh man, that’s terrible. Brings to mind the story of the two Chargers recently.

I remember that one. He had to pull images from his dashcam to prove he wasn’t the one the cop was chasing.

So you (allegedly) were able to get away from a police chopper? Weren’t you worried?

Yes, allegedly. I was a bit concerned but I allegedly only took a left turn to get to my destination. The copter continued to follow the Continental and not me. I will admit, as they say in France, “nearly shitting myself”.

Yup hahaha, it was allegedly, quite the “oh shit” moment. I was pulled over few times on that road trip and I usually saw it coming but that came out of nowhere.
